Mic Monday Series #1

Microphones come in all manner of flavors.   For the established Content Creator or Business Professional, choosing one for Live Streaming can seem like a daunting task.

Fear not, for I have a simple solution to the process of selection, and it's based on only a few factors that you will need to answer… so here goes.

Question #1, male or female?   Yes this does make a difference in mic selection as certain mics favor higher pitch voices and others favor lower pitched voices.

Question #2 Inside Live Stream or Outside Live Stream?   This one seems obvious but you would be surprised how many people think bringing a $500 to $1000 desk mic out to a beach to Live Stream is a good idea… It's not!!!

Question #3 Sit Down or Stand Up Live Stream?   Think about this for a moment, if you are in a Board Meeting, Live Streaming the company's current Profit and Loss projections to all the satellite offices, you are not going to be using a desk mic.

Question #4 Individual Talking Head or Podcasting Style with in-house guests?   This last one is a more of a stylized question as the look of the microphone on camera has to be taken into consideration.

Bonus Follow up Question for #3 & #4   Articulated Mic Boom Arm, Floor Mounted Mic Stand or Desktop Stand?

Some Live Streams are presentation style from either a podium or a speaker's spot on stage or from a desk or comfy chair Podcast style.
