AI Leverage Versus Dilution

Jul 11, 2026

Having a competitive advantage in anything is always a good thing.   When Large Language Models, LLM’s, became available to the general public in 2022, they afforded a significant advantage to the Established Content Creator and Business Professional that adopted their use early on.

But that “Early Adoption” phase has quickly run its course.  The competitive advantage presenting itself now is knowing where AI, “LLM’s” create leverage and where it dilutes the creators message by not allowing the creator to differentiate themselves from the crowd, effectively blending into the mass of AI slop we are all seeing .

So how do YOU set yourself apart from the crowd of AI slop?

Here are a few ways in my opinion, that you can set yourself apart from the crowd drunk with the power of AI…

#1 Have an opinion, YOUR opinion, not an AI generated average across millions of creators opinions… YOUR opinion.   YOU are what sets you apart from everyone else.   No one else has experienced the life that you have lived in the exact same way you have lived it.   Remember, YOUR opinion is your product, unique and distinct from everyone else in this world.

#2 What is YOUR story?   AI did not live it, you did.   So tell it how YOU experienced it.   For example…

AI did not experience YOUR first failed Live Stream or your worst client… EVER, the microphone failing during a presentation, losing internet connection while Live Streaming to a group of clients or the lessons learned from interacting with those clients.

Those are all your unique experiences that no AI can compete with.   AI can help you structure them in unique ways to share them with your clients, customers or viewers.   Never use AI to invent them out of thin air.

#3 Do your own homework.   I had asked AI for a list of top Live Streamers once and it spit out a list of some well known Content Creators.   But when I dug deeper into the numbers on those creators, better than 75% of them had not Live Streamed in years, let alone in context of what I had asked the AI for.   Bottom line, check the output manually, do the research yourself and double check.

#4 Credibility in your product reviews.  There is no faster way to destroy the trust between YOU and your audience than to do product reviews on items that you have never used.   Your credibility completely vanishes once your audience realizes you are reading AI generated opinions on items you have never personally tested.

#5 Advising clients on their business or situation.   AI is very good at giving you a detailed list of options when thoroughly prompted.   BUT, one of the biggest things that AI cannot do is “Read the Room”.   AI cannot know your clients personality, technical abilities or experience levels in the same way YOU do.   This is why One on One consulting will always exist.   Yes the AI can suggest options but it cannot replace individualized recommendations.

#6 Live interaction cannot be emulated by a machine.   One reason Live Streaming is such a valuable tool is the immediate interaction between you and the viewer.   How you answer a live question, the way you pause to contemplate the answer, admitting you do not have an answer at that time all add up to the Parasocial connection you generate with your audience.   It’s these moments that prove there is a real warm body behind the camera.

#7 Don’t be afraid to make mistakes, afterall we are only human!!!   Do not allow all the AI editing capabilities to remove every bit of your “Humaness”, yea I know, it’s not in the dictionary, from your presentations whether they are Live or pre-recorded.   Sometimes leaving that opps in where you say “I completely messed that up” is the single best way to connect with your audience.

Effectively the digital world is increasingly being flooded with reasonably competent AI generated content.   What is increasingly missing is those human factors that AI cannot replicate such as…

Actual experience, credible reputation, trust in the business relationships, spontaneity, contextual wisdom.

Surprisingly these are all reasons why individuals and businesses still hire human consultants rather than simply asking an AI what to do.

So what’s the takeaway for you?   AI is an amazing tool, full of potential for all of us.   When used correctly, AI can improve how we communicate, but should never replace what makes us unique and human.

As AI generated content becomes more common, those distinctly human qualities are what makes you valuable to your audience or clients and will allow you to rise above all the AI slop.
